Dr. Davina A Jones

Dr. Davina Jones is an academic, community and faith-based leader.  She is the Provost of Pasco-Hernando State College Porter Campus in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Dr. Jones serves on several community boards, including the Board of Directors for Operation Surprise Attack, North Tampa Bay Chamber,  Advent Health Hospital Wesley Chapel, and the North Tampa YMCA.  Dr. Jones is a 25yr veteran college professor in Communication Studies and the former Program Director for the Master of Arts in Media & Communications at Adler University in Chicago, Illinois.  Dr. Jones uses the study of communication as a lens of social critique to inspire individuals about our communion with good that transcends isms, personal trauma and injustice.  Dr. Davina Jones is also the Assistant to the Spiritual Leader of Today’s Church Tampa Bay in Tampa and St. Petersburg Florida; and the founder GREAT Camp for youth.  Dr. Jones is a proud graduate of both Bethune-Cookman University and Bowling Green State University, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Dr. Jones is a native of Tampa, FL, and is a proud second mommy to her great niece, and a dedicated Auntie to her many other nieces and nephews. 

Dr. Jones' faith-based commitments were nurtured by her parents, Archbishop David A. Jones and Lady Bevelyn A. Jones. Her commitments to community engagement were nurtured by her East Tampa neighbors and community agencies that included Tampa Parks and Recreation and TOBA (Tampa Organization of Black Affairs). Her academic commitments were nurtured by several mentors that include Dr. Rebecca Walker Steele, Dr. Claudette McFadden, Professor Lula Goolsby Day, Dr. Sheila Flemming, Dr. Tina M. Harris, Dr. Angela Nelson, and Dr. Lillian Ascraft Eason.

Where We Come From

Athough we offer a universal educational and inspirational platform, we came from a traditional faith-based lineange of the Mountain Top International Network (www.MTILovesYou.com), and the New St. Paul Temple COGIC. We were inspired by the teachings of Archbishop David Jones, who was the founder and Superintendent of the Greater Love District of COGIC churches in Florida, that he was eventually ostrasized from. Specifically, we were inpired by his teachings of human kindness and dignity that went beyond traditional church.  In that conciouness, operated from 2017 - 2020 as the Greater Love Spiritual Center for an all-inclusive Worship, Word and Work experience.

• Word: We embrace the power of creative thought and language to call those things that be not, as though they are...Let there be light!
• Work: We use our gifts and talents, financial and otherwise, to fulfill our purpose, to bless our family and to impact our world!

Seeing her father live a life of Love, believing in the best of people, forgiving debts, showing people how to believe, and how to take responsibility for their choices, Dr. Davina embraced a unique call to ministry under the tuteledge of her parents, Archbishop David & Dr. Bevelyn Jones.  Dr. Davina has served in ministry her entire life as a youth director, music leader and administrative assistant.  In addition to learning from her parents, she spent several years serving and learning from her former pastors:  Bishop Quintin T. & Lady Elga Wallace, Bishop Michael S. & Kathi Pitts, Dr. Richard & Gail Perinchief, and Dove & Stellar award-winning songwriter, Pastor Derek Thomas.  Their ministries blessed Dr. Davina with opportunities to share and hone her gifts while singing in conferences with ministry guests: Oral Roberts, Bishop Tudor Bismark, Bishop Clarence McClendon, Bishop Carlton Pearson, Shirley Caesar, and Grammy Award winning artist, Israel Houghton and New Breed. She proudly served as the Director and Spiritual Teacher of GREATER Love Spiritual Center from 2017-2020. We give love from the sacred place to the market place. 

The Greater Creed: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if you have love one for another.   John 13:35.

Living for the greater good of humanity, male & female, black & white, gay & straight, rich & poor; recognizing we need each other and the gifts of God within; realizing that in the absence of mature love, the law becomes our best and worst back-up plan, be it for marriage, civil rights, war, health and more (Matthew 22:37-40).

O Understanding that for every choice we make, there is an outcome, be it now or in the hereafter.  Make the best choices possible.  Take responsibility for your own life (Galatians 6:7).

V Knowing the power of having vision for your life, setting clear goals for self, family, career, calling, etc. It's never too late to dream.  It's never too late to change (Habakkuk 2:2).

Every religious or spiritual organization can be surveyed for its ability to offer some truth of spirituality.  No one person or group knows it all.  We prophecy in part. We are simply trying to perfect the part we believe we've been assigned here at GREATER: …..to LOVE. (John 11:35).
